In the beginning of the series Maho hates Yukino. She is upset because Yukino has always been ahead of her in an academic and social way. On one episode she attempts to turn the other students against Yukino, however when they realised that they were being used the plan backfired. After this she was all alone, and Yukino, feeling sorry for her, became her friend.

Maho initially had no real friends, she was a ringleader for a group of girls, however they deserted her, when her plan to bring down Yukino failed. However, when she becomes friends with Yukino she attempts to be a good friend and learn about those aspects of life other than school. Together the pair try to learn about life in general, feeling that it is better that they can do so together, than alone.

Maho, also helps Yukino when she is struggling to get by without Arima (he goes to an inter-school competition). She tells Yukino that the troubles she feels when he is gone show how strong her love for him is. Maho, herself has a boyfriend; a dentist who is 28 years old.
